Basic info …
On the surface this may appear to be a photographer's site. This is somewhat the case but mostly this is a vehicle to share my travel pictures with family and friends and at the same time provide a bit of background about me to anyone who might care or have little else better to do. Early travel photos exhibit I was a novice and sometimes didn't know what the hell I was doing. My hope is to continually increase my photographic knowledge by ongoing trial and error experiences and from gathering whatever info I can coax from my more experienced photographer friends. Hopefully I can continue to improve the quality of my photos while incorporating perspectives that appeal to me and in-turn maybe will appeal to others as well.
I was born and raised on the coast of Los Angeles in San Pedro, California. Upon getting married, my wife and I moved to San Diego in 1990 where we couldn't be happier. I began surfing when I turned a teenager after begging and pleading with my mom for a couple of years to let me. I owe the deepest debt of gratitude to my cousin Helen Spencer, a contemporary of my mother, who convinced my mom that surfing and surfers are not like the poor stereotypical image that is often portrayed in movies and television. More on my surfing saga can be found under the Leisure tab of this site.
I am an Information Technology Director at Alliant International University, where I have been employed since 1996. Prior employers have been the Camden Group and A&M Records. Other than the part-time jobs I had while growing up, I have only been with three companies in my forty plus years' professional career. That's fairly uncommon in the technology field but has worked out reasonably well for me. I have a good sense of loyalty and a varied amount of values that keep me from job hopping for the biggest paycheck. Don't get me wrong, financial compensation is important but there are many other factors that comprise occupational satisfaction and quality of life.
Whether you are a family member, friend or someone who randomly stumbled onto my site, I hope you find something you feel is interesting and redeemable here.
Thanks for visiting,
Curt
